Dr. Johanna Prince

Photo of Johanna PrinceUniversity of Maine at Farmington logoJohanna Prince is the Director of Graduate Programs in Education at the University of Maine at Farmington.  In addition to her work in higher education, she has taught elementary school and outdoor education across New England, and in Switzerland.  While teaching at an American school in Switzerland she lead a project to bring 1:1 iPads to 4th graders at the school – with the dual goal of supporting English Language Learners, and content knowledge acquisition.  She is passionate about working with educators who want to reflect on, and use technology to support project-based and active learning for students.  As a huge advocate for the use of technology in teaching and learning, she is committed to challenging the notion that more technology is always better.  She strives for balanced and thoughtful use of the technology to complement the relationships between learners and teachers.  She is not a Maine native, but proud that all three of her degrees are from Maine institutions.  When she is not in a classroom she prefers to be skiing, hiking, or traveling.
