Dr. Meredith Swallow
Dr. Meredith Swallow is an Assistant Professor of Elementary Education at the University of Maine at Farmington. In the Elementary Education program, Meredith teaches Technology Integration, Introduction to Theory and Practice, and Practicum and Seminar. She recently joined the faculty of the Masters in Educational Leadership program teaching the Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment sequence, and is thrilled to join the M.Ed. in Instructional Technology program. Prior to joining the UMF community, Meredith was a mathematics teacher focused on engaged and active learning, by supporting the connection of knowledge through interaction, understanding, and meaning. Meredith earned her PhD in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies at the University of Vermont with a research focus on K-8 technology integration. During her studies, Meredith worked with in-service educators engaged in technology-rich teaching and learning to support personalized and student centered practices. At UMF, Meredith is collaborating with pre-service teachers on effective models of proficiency based learning, and developing research on understanding how we can leverage technology to best support teaching and learning in this model.
