Brightspace
Brightspace Learning Environment is an innovative learning management system for creating, hosting, and editing online learning resources. It contains a flexible suite of tools for creating custom content for institutions, courses and users.
Brightspace can be used for online courses or for developing supplementary materials for courses taught in other more traditional formats.
Blank course shells have been created for all of your upcoming courses within Brightspace already. When you log in to Brightspace, you will see all of your courses right on the landing page.

Making your course active to students for the semester
Brightspace course shell is automatically generated for all UMS courses. By default, courses are created as not “Active” in Brightspace. Auto-populate enrollments is done every 20 mins from Mainestreet enrollment data into the Brightsapce course shell.
To make your Brightspace course as “Active” for students to access:
- “Course Admin” via the navbar on Brightspace
- “Course Offering Information” section
- Toggle “Course is Active” and Save
