Online Professional Science Masters in Engineering and Business

The Professional Science Master’s (PSM) in Engineering and Business is designed for students with a background in engineering who want to advance into management positions. The program combines advanced engineering and business courses with applied field experience. The applied field experience gives students the opportunity to demonstrate the skills they’ve developed and integrate them with the needs of their employer.

There are currently two online concentrations: Surveying Engineering and Electrical Engineering Technology.


The PSM in Engineering and Business program consists of 15 credits of engineering courses, 9 credits of business courses, and 6 credits of applied field experience.

Business Courses

Choose 3 business courses at the 400 level or higher (9 credits). Course examples include, but is not limited to: 

  • ACC 400: Introduction to Accounting (3 credits)
  • BUA 601: Data Analysis for Business (3 credits)
  • MBA 620: Law, Business, and Society (3 credits)
  • MBA 626: Management of Contemporary Organizations (3 credits)
  • MBA 670: Managerial Marketing (3 credits)

Applied Field Experience

The following course is required (6 credits): 

  • GEE 694: Professional Science Masters in Engineering and Business Internship (6 credits)

Engineering Courses

The following course is required (3 credits). Students must complete an additional 12 credits of approved advanced engineering courses or choose one of the concentrations.

  • ENM 586: Advanced Project Management (3 credits)

Surveying Engineering Concentration

Select 4 courses from the following (12 credits):

  • ANT 521 – Geographic Information Systems I (3 credits)
  • ANT 522 – Geographic Information Systems II (3 credits)
  • SIE 509: Principles of Geographic Information Systems (3 credits)
  • SVT 501: Advanced Adjustment Computations (3 credits)
  • SVT 511: Geodetic US Public Land Survey Computations (3 credits)
  • SVT 512: Advanced Survey Law (3 credits)
  • SVT 531: Advanced Digital Photogrammetry (3 credits)
  • SVT 532: Survey Strategies in Use of Lidar (3 credits)
  • SVT 541: Geodesy (3 credits)
  • SVT 542: Applied Hydrographic Surveying (3 credits)

  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering, engineering technology, math, physics, or equivalent from an accredited program
  • A minimum of a 2.5 GPA (3.0 or higher preferred)
